I tried to tell myself not to feel ashamed

Illustrated portrait of a woman.

Written by Anonymous

I’ve taken the morning after pill three times in my life.

Two times I went to women’s/sexual health clinics which felt like more comfortable and absolutely no judgment. It was a simple transaction as if I bought a chocolate bar.

The third time I got it from a pharmacy. I’m a racial minority from a sexually conservative culture…. and the pharmacist was a man of the same background but I just braced myself and asked for it like it was nothing even though inside I was uncomfortable. I tried to tell myself not to feel ashamed. He was all choked up and awkward about it and then that made me just try more to be more chill about it
